About Our Father Of Basketball Vintage Photograph. Old fashioned photo of Mr. & Mrs. J. Naismith in 1926, Mass. Jaimes Naismith was a gym teacher for the YMCA. He wanted to develop a wintertime game that was fun and required competition. He rigged up two big peach baskets and basketball was born!
