City Street Vendors

These vintage photographs celebrate the love of street vendors. Nothing quite shapes an urban landscape or contributes more to a lively city life than these ambitious, hardworking individuals. The pushcart peddlers of yesteryear, primarily of Jewish or Italian descent sold some of the same wholesome, delicious finger foods that we still enjoy to this day. Although now you can find everything from fish balls in Chinatown to a French cart that sells banana and nutella crepes, the simple hot dog remains the street food of choice.
