Edwin Wiley Grove was a druggist and in 1886 started the Paris Medicine Company. He was very well known in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the time! The tonic was on the market for years. A great deal of time and attention has been spent developing this collection. Some of these images show the wear of time, and some reveal to us that the art was not quite as sharp and precise as it is today. Each image does, however allow us to let our imaginations return to those earlier times of struggle, victory, ingenuity, and thrift.
