Ruth Bancroft Law had one of the longest and most succesful careers in aviation. She was the first female to fly at night. She loved to show off her aerobatics skills for large crowds. This photograph was taken on a very important day in her aviation history. While piloting her plane her fuel cut and she was able to cool and calmly land her plane safely here on Governors Island.
